England 1 - 2
Iceland
The 3 Lions crashed
out of Euro after a humiliating defeat against Iceland. The smallest team in
the tournament came back from behind to clinch a 2 - 1 victory?. Iceland played
with the same team whereas Roy Hodgson made 6 changes to the starting lineup. Within
4 minutes England took the lead when Wayne Rooney converted a penalty awarded
for a foul on Raheem Sterling inside the box. Seconds later, Iceland stunned
their mighty opponents when Ragnar Sigurdsson tapped in a flick-on header from
a long throw. Though Rooney and his boys had the ball for most of the time,
Iceland took the lead in the 18th minute to continue their fairytale. Hodgson
brought in Jack Wilshere and Jamie Vardy in the 2nd half to add more power to
their attack. The panic and frustration among English players were clearly
visible as they failed to score a goal. On the other end, Iceland continued to
test Joe Hart whenever they had the ball.
Iceland will face
hosts France in the quarters.
